The sun was warm outside the large alpha's den. I stretched my jaw out to yawn and climbed to my legs. Dominic was already outside giving orders to omegas like Slash, Skipper, and Swirl. I smiled and trotted outside. He turned my way and his eyes immediately softened,
"Good Morning", he said lovingly. I rubbed up against him and licked his ear.
"Good Morning", I yawned
I sat next to him while he gave out commands through the morning. Chance and JC went out on a hunting patrol; Chance came back with a thorn in his paw. *manly* high-pitched yelps came from the healer's den, which means that Neila pulled out the thorn without pain medication, or she jabbed Jess with a paralysis shot to stop his blabbering.
After the Sun was really high in the sky I had already lolled off to sleep. Dominic nudged me with a big, fat rabbit in his jaw. I smiled and ripped the rabbit from his jaws.
what's the word
..fierce?" Dom snickered. I grinned at him and took a plate-sized bite from the rabbit. I looked down at the devastation I had caused the rabbit. Swallowing the huge bit and feeling the lump squeeze down my throat, I nudged the morsel left to Dom.
"You can have the rest", I smiled innocently. He head-butted me and quickly swallowed the bit.
"Want to go Hunting?" He asked with a grin.
"How could I say no?" I replied and nudged his muzzle. He nodded and climbed to his paws. I followed his lead out the entrance and into the blooming forest. The sun warmed my fur and heated my paws as I stepped on the moss. He morphed into human form and I did to. We sub-consciously held each other's hands and continued to walk.
"When you first came to the camp what did you think?" he asked.
"I'd never seen a wolf before, honestly. I didn't know how beautifully strong and fierce they are"
Dom smiled at me, "So now what do you think"
I turned to look at him through the eyes; "I wouldn't have it any other way" I stood up on my tip-toes to kiss him shortly. His response to my peck was what I wanted; he fell backwards into a small swoon then regained balance with a grin on his face.
"Good, I don't know what I'd do without you", He murmured, kissing me again.
I morphed into wolf form, my hand dropping down into a paw. Dominic transformed after me, I leaned into his warm chest and sighed
"I love you", I whispered
"I love you too", He responded, looking down at me with warm, bright blue eyes. His ears perked up and so did mine.
We both looked at each other and stood. "I heard a squirrel", he said. "Yep", I growled and crept forward. The squirrel was right on the other side of a bush, I grinned widely. The area was completely open and on the left of a creek. I stalked forward and jumped for the squirrel but missed. I rolled over smiling and looked up at Dom he was still in the bush looking at me with a horrified look on his face.
"What?" I asked. Then I saw what was troubling him. A couple of humans were toying with a gun on the other side of the creek. One of them had spotted me and was pointing in my direction. The second one, taller and thinner than the other, had the gun directed strait towards me. My breathing became shallow and nervous I looked at Dominic and his hair hung over his eyes and his teeth were clenched, not in anger but in nervousness and confusion. I could tell he was making a decision, and I knew what that decision was. As I started to climb to my paws to tell him not to, the human pulled the trigger on the gun.
It all happened too fast for my eyes to follow. First was a flash of bronze then the gunshot then blood splattered over my fur and Dominic lay in front of me, limp and cold. Tears formed behind my eyes. Then I blinked them back, baring my teeth angrily at the humans. They pulled the trigger at me but nothing came out. I ran towards them with anger that I had never felt before. They screamed and scurried away with their gun in hand, one of them fell and I had the chance to catch up to it. My claws raked down its back but nothing more, I couldn't kill it. As much as I wanted too, I just couldn't bring myself to kill that vermin. I knelt under me, clutching its back with bloodied hands. I howled and returned across the creek to my love. He was laying in front of me with his beautiful bright blue eyes permanently widened in fear. I collapsed into his hard fur with tears streaming down my cheeks, "Why not me? I don't know why you didn't let me die. WHY!" I screamed in sorrow.
Then three shadows were cast across the clearing. They were wolves, luckily.
"Mom?" Dakota asked, worrying. I shook my head and held the cold wolf closer to me.
"Luna, what happened?" Chance asked, concerned.
"Don't pretend like you care!" I snarled at him climbing to my paws. "Don't pretend like you ever gave anything for Dominic, like you would ever go fourth for him if he was down. Like you would ever treat him with any essence of pack-mate ship!" I was directly in front of him, his eyes were wide and his ears were back submissively. I threw my claws forward and raked them across his cheek. He yelped with surprise and stumbled backwards.
"Luna, we have to bring him back to the den. We can't just leave him here", Ash spoke up. Dakota rubbed up against me, tears streaming down her check to. I nodded to ash, my eyes red and burning from the tears. I looked back at Dom; he looked so empty and cold.
